PROJECTS
Epump

Epump - Electric Vehicle Charging Station
The Epump is an Electric Vehicle Charging Station which manages transfer of single or three phase AC power from the mains supply to the electric vehicle and provides charging at the best possible speed that the premises can provide. The product also calculates the energy usage and reports this wirelessly to a server and an app, developed by the software engineers involved in the project, manages the user interface.
I was responsible for the process of the CE Certification needed to place the product in the market. Moreover, I had the opportunity to deal with the necessary changes that had to be made to the product in order to achieve the CE Certification, closely collaborating with the mechanical engineer responsible for the design of the enclosure of the charging station.
Actuated Tether

Actuated Tether - Robot
This project deals with the concept design for an Actuated Tether that can deliver a payload in a constrained environment some distance from the operator. An Actuated Tether is defined as a robot which has a high length to diameter ratio and has the ability to navigate a certain environment by changing its shape without damaging the surroundings.
The project is broken down into different steps and the milestones are: a literature survey of existing Actuated Tether solutions, the suggestion of a scenario that the robot needs to navigate and the proposal of three concept designs that should be able to complete the scenario and an evaluation of their limitations.
My responsibility was to lead this project and write the report (not published for confidentiality issues).

ASP
ASP - Advanced Signal Processing
This project consists of MATLAB codes and a report with the corresponding mathematical descriptions.
The main areas covered are:
- Random signals and stochastic processes
- Linear stochastic modelling
- Spectral estimation and modelling
- Optimal filtering (fixed and adaptive)
- MLE for the frequency of a signal

IoT
IoT - The SmartSnake
This project dealt with the development of an IoT (Internet of Things) product. My group developed The SmartSnake, a multiplayer game where the players compete to perform specific moves as fast and precise as possible.
The data is sent to a database and the players can see statistics on their performance on a website. The project was developed with a Raspberry Pi programmed in Python, using sensors for data acquisition.

Boost SMPS
Boost Switch Mode Power Supply - Power Electronics
The aim of this project is to build and analyse the design of a Boost Switch Mode Power Supply, introduce measures to improve its efficiency and design a closed loop controller on a microprocessor.
A report is issued where the design choices are outlined and simulation results are presented. Then, the PCB was designed and printed.
OverWatch

OverWatch - Smart Watch
This project deals with the development of the prototype of a smart watch aimed for elderlies. By monitoring old people's life conditions the watch improves their lives by making it possible for them to be more independent.
The functions of the watch:
-
measures values for heart beat and oxygen concentration in the blood
-
detects sudden falls
-
has a medicine reminder
-
has GPS localisation
The OverWatch gives different levels of alert by communicating with a website which can be accessed by people that care for the elderly.

EERover
EERover - Moving smart rover
This project deals with the development of a moving rover which senses the environment using a number of different sensors and is controlled through an app.
